Our Community
Among the dozens of projects Ohio Valley Financial Group and the Preston Family Foundation have helped fund are those designed to honor or illuminate the community's history.
Preserving the past was the goal in the fall of 2001 when the foundation joined the Friends of Audubon in purchasing for $142,500 a rare copper plate that had been used in the production of John James Audubon's landmark publication "The Birds of America."
The plate, titled "Tell-Tale Godwit (Great Yellow Legs)" was presented to the Audubon Museum for display and was later used by University of Southern Indiana professor Michael Aakhus, to make six new prints, the plate's first since 1838.
Ohio Valley Financial Group and the foundation actively support current community activities. From the wildly popular W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival, with its colorful Street Strut, to the Henderson Area Arts Alliance, to the Ohio Valley Art League or the Children's Center for Dance Education, Ohio Valley National Bank and the Preston Foundation are there to help make the Tri-county area a more enjoyable place to live.
The bank and the foundation are also committed to helping area residents improve their health and well-being by supporting charities like the American Cancer Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Emergency Women's Shelter, the March of Dimes, Matthew 25 AIDS Services, the Autism Society of Western Kentucky, Riverview School, United Way and Methodist Hospital.
... and future
Ohio Valley Financial Group and the Preston Family Foundation also believe in assisting the community in reaching its goals. Ohio Valley Financial Group's contribution of $300,000 in 2002 for the construction of the Preston Media Center, a technologically advanced learning facility at Henderson County High School, should pay dividends to local students for years to come.
